E. Fowler. (New South Wales) Ginger Beer Cork Stoppered Convict ginger beer. Impressed. 10 oz. 180 mm. 1840s
Very Good. Some conjecture as to whether this was meant to be a figure 8 or not? The E. Fowler part is exactly the same, but the figure 8 and Sydney are not to be seen? Looking at the curvature of the neck below the Fowler, the Figure 8 and Sydney should be seen, so this may be a very rare stamp variation? Sliver to upper left lip may be a kiln kiss. A few flakes and shallow chips to base edge. Pottery blowout to front right near base. Plenty of glaze wear throughout, heaviest to shoulder and base edge, but showing up as discoloured spots elsewhere. Little horseshoe mark to shoulder, another to base edge. Great, crude example with blobby lip on a distinct slant from making. Grade: 7.3 Estimate: $$750.00 - $1,000.00
