Amazing early chocolate tin for Flemmings of Drummoyne, Sydney, N.S.W. The lid depicts the four iconic pieces of Australian fauna - kangaroo, emu, kookaburra and koala. The main central picture looks to be Captain Cook's landing? It shows British sailors having arrived on land raising the British Naval Flag. Tins Chocolate Flemming's Chocolates Tin from Drummoyne, NSW. 2 Pounds. 235 mm long. 1930s
Very Good. I can't find out a lot of information on Flemming's Chocolates from Drummoyne, except that he was around in the 1930s. A wonderful, early tin with great detail, this is a must for any tin collector. Some fading to the design. There are sections of surface corrosion. Scratches through the paint leaving rusty spots and general rust looking spots throughout. The front is a little pushed in towards the lower section. Hinge still works great and the tin looks quite good inside. Some spots of white paint to be found. The sides are OK, they have a distinctive pattern throughout, there is some rust to be found and some scratches and flakes through the paint, but generally quite solid. A great tin! Grade: N/A Estimate: $75 - 100
