Salt Glaze Statue of Pussy Cat. Pottery Australian Salt Glaze Statue of Pussy Cat. 70 mm. 1860s
Very Good. Nibble to top of the cats ear. Chip to front base edge. Right base edge has another chip. Neither are large, but both are readily seen. A few other little nibbles. A great piece in our mind, several of these were found many years ago at the City Road tip, one of the earliest Melbourne tips from the 1850s-1860s. We have surmised that these were a throw out from a local pottery. Which pottery? Dahlke's is a possibility - of course, nobody will ever know for sure, one thing that is for certain, these are superb pieces of early pottery. Grade: 7 Estimate: $50 - 75
