A Letter From The Diggings. Pot Lid Prattware Multi-coloured Pratt lid showing a scene called A Letter from the Diggings. 105 mm diameter. 1860s
Fair. Repaired. Looks to be a flake repaired to the face at around 9 o'clock, and another lower down at around 7:30. Very hard to even tell, but at these two locations the outer design is slightly irregular. Little glaze scrape to outer rim at 3 o'clock. The flange has been painted over most of the circumference, looks like mostly smaller chips that have been filled around the flange as there is evidence of original flakes and the like, but one section may have had more substantial work. Impossible to know for sure with the current overpainting blending most of the flange in together. May be a little repair to rim at top of lid as well? Looks great as is, mostly fine to the face with a few small repairs, a great shelf example. Does not come with a base. Grade: 5 Estimate: $30 - 40
