G. Pleasance / Chemist / Chapel St., Prahran. Pot Lid Pot Ceramic pot with light blue overglaze print. 75 mm. 1920s

Good. George Pleasance died in 1930 at the age of 71. He was born in Malmsbury, Victoria, he established his business in Chapel Street in 1878. His brother, Charles Pleasance was a Lord Mayor of Melbourne and laid the foundation stone of the Queen Victoria statue in Alexandra Gardens. George retired from business in 1923. This jar in question would therefore date prior to 1923. We have seen one other example, it was smaller with a different colour print, this is the first of these larger ones we have seen with blue print. It has a 60 mm hairline down the front. Grade: 6.3 Estimate: $75 - 100
