Heavy white Ceramic Insulator with original (and heavier) Metal top and bracket. From the original centre section of the Overland Telegraph line as laid out by Charles Todd. Insulator Stoneware White bodied white stoneware insulator. Original metal top and bracket. 155 mm. 1872
Excellent. Around the neck of the stoneware just under the metal top are some line gouges that have been deliberately cut in with red dirt/rust stain in them. Minor marks elsewhere. Metal top is in nice shape with some rust on one side (being from something next to it rather than the top itself). A nice early insulator in its own right plus a great piece of Australian communications history and our connection with the wider world. Grade: 8 Estimate: $300 - 400
