F Lipscombe / Hobart Town / Doulton & Watts / Registered / 1367 / Lambeth Pottery. (Tasmania) Household Stoneware Wide two tone stoneware storage jar. Threaded top for metal clamp. Bristol Glaze. Quart. 180 mm. 1840s-1850s
Good. There is overpainting on the lower section around the potters stamp and to a large area to the left of this. You can see some hairlines inside but nothing that suggests a hole. There seems to be one chip at the base edge but this looks relatively small, presumably it extends up into the body but by how much is unknown. Typically there are a few little flakes and marks around the top of the lip. The threads also have a handful of very minor flakes and chips. The body other than the overpainted section is a bit scuffy and scratched with some discolouration - a good soaking clean should work wonders on some of this. In the mid front is a 6 x 4 mm pottery blowout from manufacture. Grade: 6.8 Estimate: $150 - 200
