Evan Rowlands / Registered 6 January 1880 / (Farmer and Miner) // Rowlands / Late / Rowlands / & Lewis / Ballarat / & / Melbourne. Base Mark: Dan Rylands Ld / 4 / Sole / Makers / Barnsley. (Victoria) Aerated Water Codd Applied top. Dump Shape. Traditional codd style patent with two tear drops. Yellow/Amber/Green. 13 oz. 189 mm. 1880s
Good. About 15 mm of inner front lip is flaked and nibbled, there is some dirt or rust in here as well. Little nick to lower front lip. Upper left lip has a little flake or two as well. Left lower body and base edge has a 17 x 25 mm deep burst bubble which is nibbled around the outer edges with a small flake to the underside base from it as well. Deep chip to R of Melbourne near base edge at rear. Heavily stained throughout, this is etched as well. A pitted effect, there are scratches, fisheyes and impacts throughout. Rust scattered around as well. One of the most sought after codds in Australia, this is very hard to describe colour wise - initially I was adamant this was a yellow amber, but then I showed a few people who said it was green! It does have a green tinge to it, sort of like a deep lemony lime colour! I know, I know - I am not helping here at all am I! A nice colour it is! Grade: 6 Estimate: $5000 - 7500
