Very Good. A tragic story behind this piece, in August, 1934, Walter Hancock, 53, proprietor of Hancock's Golden Crust Proprietary, was killed instantly when an explosion occurred in the factory in South Yarra occurred in the factory in South Yarra on Saturday morning. A compressor at the rear of the factory burst while Mr. Hancock was inspecting it, and portion of the machine struck him on the left temple. The compressor was attached to a macaroni drying machine. The engineer of the company. Mr. M. A. Colbert, was with Mr. Hancock when the explosion occurred. He suffered slight concussion and shock. This piece is likely part of a piece of packaging as it has 7 lbs. nett on it, not sure how it would have been arranged as this looks like a single piece of cardboard that is stand alone. The upper edge is a little mangled. A minor crease down the middle. Bit of a stain to the upper edge. A little discoloured. Judging by the fact that little advertising appears after the tragedy, it is likely the company was not around for much longer. A great piece of history. Grade: N/A Estimate: $20 - 30
