Chemists Storage Jar with Applied Coat of Arms. Medicine Chemist Salt Glaze wide neck jar with tin lid. Applied slab seals. 5 pounds. 176 mm without lid. 1860s
Very Good. Some minor surface wear to upper lip. Inner base has a couple of short firing splits. The applied decorations have several firing splits through them, one or two are quite wide. The bottom part of the coat of arms has one of these fine splits as well, but across the body of the jar between the applied sections is a small split as well, which lines up with the other split. Definitely all firing cracks from making and not later damage at all. Little pottery pull or two under the base. The tin lid looks somewhat corroded externally, internally it is quite solid with just some surface corrosion in spots. A wonderful looking jar. Grade: 7.4 Estimate: $200 - 300
