St Kilda Carnival / (Australian Coat of Arms) / Luna Park 1919. Made by Stokes Sons Melb. (Victoria) Jewellery Brooch Brass brooch advertising 1919 St Kilda Carnival. 31 mm across. 1919
Near Mint. What a superb piece of early Melbourne history. Luna Park opened late in 1912, and so this is from the formative years of this iconic part of Melbourne when festivities such as this were required to assist in taking Australian's minds off of other events throughout the World. A fabulously detailed design, the coat of arms even has the six sections of the shield showing clearly the contents, these details are often hard to decipher on coat of arms. A little wear to the protruding parts with a few tiny little scratches. The pin is still sharp and functional. Great item. Grade: N/A Estimate: $150 - 200
