F Lipscombe / Hobart Town. Potters stamp: Doulton & Watts / Registered / 1367 / Lambeth Pottery. (Tasmania) Household Jar Two tone, tan top, off white body. Impressed. 2 Pound. 180 mm. 1860s
Very Good. A nice early piece of pottery from Tasmania. The upper lip is dirty. There are small flakes around this upper lip edge. The patent neck ring which would have been used to clamp a lid down on twisting it has some minor wear and a few little flakes through the glaze. 8 x 6 mm pottery blowout to the front which is quite deep, there are a few other lesser pottery blow outs as well. 13 x 7 mm chip to base edge at rear. Some spots of discolouration and stain scattered around. A few glaze scratches. This has a slightly discoloured appearance throughout. A little minor wear to the glaze and one or two little glaze flakes to be found. Great impression on this one, this is quite a hard piece to get from Tasmania, in quite good condition. Grade: 7.2 Estimate: $300 - 400
