J. Meyers & Sons / (Lion) / Albany. (Western Australia) Aerated Water Torpedo Applied top. Aqua. 13 oz. 230 mm. 1890s
Very Good. Having thoroughly examined this, we are unsure if it has been polished. We think it is not, but cannot say for sure. 4 x 2 mm nick to inner lip. Small fisheye to rear lip. Very slightly dull internally. There is a series horizontal scratches to the inner lower half, some of these appear to have rounded edges giving them a polished look? But, externally you can still see whittle, great original detail to embossing, etc. Maybe it was polished internally only? To the left of the lion and the A of Albany are a few scuffed marks, one closest to the A is a little deeper. The bar that the lion is standing on has a flake to the left end of it. There is a dull spot to the & S with some scuffing in a small spot here as well. A few scuffs and scratches scattered around otherwise. This is a superb WA torpedo. Grade: 7.7 Estimate: $1500 - 2000
