Large black glass apothecary jar with painted label: Vin: Ipecac. Base Mark: Dot. Medicine Chemist Applied lip. Black. 1 Gallon. 348 mm. 1840s
Very Good. 7 x 7 mm bubble to front above badge that has some fracturing to it. Rear base edge has a 30 x 15 mm burst bubble right on the edge. A little flaking to the edge of this. A shallow surface bubble to rear shoulder. Front base edge has another burst bubble right on the actual edge. This seems to be about 20 x 20 mm on the front, but is hard to tell as it has been partly filled with resin to disguise it. Some scratches. A bit of grime. Some crude streaks in the glass and plenty of bubbles. There is some very fine opalescence to front left shoulder. The painted badge has been touched up throughout. A great, early piece of black glass. Grade: 7.4 Estimate: $100 - 150
