Round Stoneware ink with three nib holes in shoulder, floral pattern to sides, wide mouth. No potters stamp. Ink Stoneware Round Stoneware ink with three nib holes in shoulder, floral pattern to sides, wide mouth. Salt Glaze. 3 oz. 52 mm. 1830s
Very Good. Couple of small glaze flakes to lip. Really fine small horseshoe fracture to shoulder edge. One of the quill holes has a hairline coming from it to the shoulder and then down the side to the base. Couple of other lines around the applied decoration seem to be making marks. Thin flake to bottom of one of the upper leaves on the decoration. Some dust and grime. A superb and early looking piece. From the famous ink collection of Bert Hayward, Bert was on the cover of the Australian Bottle Review in February 1976 with his display of inks! Grade: 7.2 Estimate: $75 - 100
