Fabulous desk set including two inkwells on a wooden stand with an amazingly ornate and detailed horse decoration. Ink Ink Well Large wooden stand with four bulbous feet. Tray for pens. Two holes to hold two glass inkwells. Horse in middle, appears to be metallic. Inkwells have silver hinged mounts with mirrors under the lid. About 210 mm high. 1900s
Excellent. The stand is solid with no damage. Looks to have been repainted at some stage. One of the nuts retaining the horse in place looks new. Horse is fabulously detailed, this may not have originally been this colour, looks like it may have been painted when the base was. Both inkwells are in great nick. Just some usage scratches under the base. Silver mounts are tarnished. One will not open, the hinge is seized. The other works fine. What an amazing piece this is all round in my mind!
