John Burgess & Son / Anchovy Paste / For Sandwiches, Toast, &c. / Warehouse, 107, Strand / Corner of The Savoy Steps, London. No makers marks. Household Foodstuffs Ceramic pot with black print. 95 mm. 1860s
Very Good. An early pot, John Burgess & Son was named as such from 1827 at the 107 Strand address, this is likely from the mid 1800s. Tiny glaze nick to rear shoulder. Front base has a chip under it, this is glazed over so is from making. There is a little impact type flake next to this though. The left base has a small flake under it too. A few little scratches. Great pot. Grade: 7.6 Estimate: $50 - 75
