Staffordshire plate, blue and white pattern showing Hobart Town. Inspired by view shown in George William Evans book published in 1822 of the colony of Hobart Town. Near Mint. Couple of little spots to the outer front that are lumps to the pottery from making. There is a line across the bottom of the lower building, this is a glazed over split from making. Some minor surface scratches. Little bit of minor wear to the upper edge of the plate. Some crazing. This is an extremely significant piece, and very early too, from the 1820s. An example sold through Australian Book Auctions in August 2013 for $10,000! This was Lot 151 in their auction on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27 August.
