2 / T. Davis / Burnie / To close the tap / turn hole in handle to front / DO NOT raise the Tap on turning. Potters stamp: Pearson & Co / Whittington / Moor / Chesterfield. Demijohn Printed Two tone, tan top, off white body. Black print. Internal Thread. 2 Gallon. 395 mm. 1920s
Very Good. Outer lip has a band of wear from where the wire handle has rubbed on it over the years. A lump to the pottery on the mid body just to the right and below the stamp has a pottery blowout from the lower part of it, 10 x 5 mm and shallow. There is a curved glaze hairline around the bottom of this lump. Couple of deeper scratches to left body. The rest of the body has some spots of wear, some scratches and spots of discolouration. A bit of slightly heavier wear to the spigot. A nice piece from Tasmania, you do not see these for sale very often at all. Grade: 7.4 Estimate: $1000 - 1250
