J. T. Shepheard & Co / (Star with Star / Works) / Geraldton // 4. Aerated Water Torpedo Applied top. Cobalt. 13 oz. 231 mm. 1880s
Near Mint. Some fine annealing marks to inner lip. Tiny open bubble to lip. Couple of tiny spots of haze to lip. Shallow open bubble to rear body, smaller one near this. Small spot of very fine wear to base point and a tiny impact mark there as well. Small dull spot near point. One or two tiny spots of inner surface dirt that will wash out, some possible very light inner haze, but this may be condensation as there is some moisture still inside. Some very light surface scratches, right shoulder has a small section of slightly deeper scratches. Very shallow flake to the dash under Co, the rest of the embossing has just minor marks. A couple of very small and light surface impact marks. This is without a doubt the single best example of these that we have ever seen. The first example we have handled that has NOT been polished, in fact we are not sure if there are many other non polished examples out there at all. A superb piece all round. Grade: 9 Estimate: $2000 - 2500
