D. J. Tuomy / & Co / Melbourne. Base Mark: M. Wine Aqua Applied top, tooled finish. Aqua. 13 oz. 249 mm. 1900s
Very Good. Slightly dull appearance. Possible light inner haze, this may just be some fine dirt? Down the right behind the seam line is a scuffed scratch about 20 mm wide from shoulder to base. Other scuffs and scratches scattered throughout. Some minor wear to high points of the embossing. A few little nicks and fisheyes. Now, there is a large manufacturing fault at the front base in the form of a 26 x 20 mm fold in the glass. The bottom part of this has formed an open bubble or two. The top of this open bubble has a split going from it towards the top of the "fold" and a couple of surface fractures, in this upper layer of glass only. Definitely an obvious mark, but a result of poor quality control whilst being made. An extremely rare Melbourne wine bottle. Grade: 7 Estimate: $500 - 600
