Banded Salt Glaze Bung Jar. Impressed: 2Q / (Anchor). Pottery Australian Salt glaze with dark bands to lip, upper and lower body. 2 Quart. 193 mm. 1880s
Very Good. Some wear around the lip and the inner seat where the lid would sit. A couple of little glaze flakes to lip. Really fine 30 mm hairline from front lip to left of stamp, can just be seen below the dark lip band, can be seen over short distance on inner lip. Little flake to base edge has a bit of the dark glaze over it, this is from making. A little discoluration in places. A great example of early Australian pottery, anything with the anchor stamp is sought after, this is not one that we have seen before. Grade: 7.7 Estimate: $300 - 400
