Sold for A$340

(Crown) / WR. No potters mark. Household Mustard Ceramic mustard jar with 7 rings around a blue neck. Handles to either side. Applied seal with WR and crown. Blue design. 107 mm. 1830s

Excellent. Couple of tiny glaze nicks to lip rim. Little flake to lower left handle, this is within a glazed over slightly larger flake from making. Some fine hairlines under the base. A bit of crazing. Couple of splits and minor marks to the applied decoration. A superb example of a very early mustard jar. Probably made for a competitor of Crosse & Blackwell or Batey.  This would date to prior to 1837, and is a rare double sized example. Grade: 8.2 Estimate: $300 - 350
