Wolton Wigg / Rushworth. Ginger Beer Cork Stoppered Salt glaze. Impressed. 10 oz. 172 mm. 1860s
Excellent. One tiny glaze flake to upper lip. Fleabite to side shoulder. Left shoulder has an 8 x 2 mm pottery blowout. 6 x 4 mm gouge near the upper left impressed stamp from making, a lump of pottery beside this and a glazed over similar gouge above it. 10 x 4 mm pottery blowout to rear which is a good 2 to 3 mm deep, again from making. A couple of spots of minor glaze wear. Plenty of crude dints, lumps and bumps from making. Superb example, with the marks being making marks, this should really grade higher than this. Extremely rare, you are not likely to find better. Grade: 8.9 Estimate: $800 - 1000
