Watson's / Batman's Hill / Hotel. Smooth base. Aerated Water Codd Niagara type. Applied top. Aqua. 10 oz. 238 mm. 1900s
Excellent. Superb looking bottle and exceptionally rare. NOTE: There is no marble in the chamber, it would have broken during use and fallen out. The width of the opening at the top appears to be slightly larger than the gap across the cross pinch so you could probably get a marble to fit and put back in but not really necessary. There is a crude manufacturing fold in the top and a tiny 4 mm flake off the top of the back lip. A small 5 x 2 mm open bubble to the right shoulder and some scratches to the back side and shoulder area. Lovely strong embossing. This is similar in design to a few other Victorian Niagara style marble bottles of this era that appear to be made by one of the smaller glass works in operation at the time. Great opportunity to get one of Melbourne's rarest Hotel bottles. Grade: 8.8 Estimate: $2000 - 2500
