G. Sewell / Queenstown / & Gormanston. Base Mark: Botany. Aerated Water Codd Applied top. Two way pour Niagara style patent with four tear drops. Aqua. 10 oz. 226 mm. 1890s
Good. Generally shiny, but there are some sections of scratching and scuffs. At the front the W of Sewell is quite nibbled, below this is a section of scuffed scratches which goes across the S of Queenstown and subsequently it is somewhat flaked and nibbled. The scuffed scratches continue on down below this towards the lower embossing. The A at the front bottom is mostly chipped off and nibbled, the N alongside is nibbled as well. There are a few other light scratches to the face. Now, around to the rear! A large portion of the lower half of the rear shows heavy wear in the form of a similar scuffed section, there is a small section in the middle where this lessenes, before becoming heavier again to one side in a thinner setcion, that actually contains 13 x 3 mm gouge into the glass. There are some scuffs near the neck groove as well at the rear. A couple of fisheyes and a few other scratches. A rare bottle, the glass makers mark of simply "Botany" is not one that we have seen either. Grade: 6 Estimate: $75 - 100
