Pair of Fruit Preserving Jars: 1. Federal / (Australian Flag) / Fruit Jar. Smooth base. 2. Trade Mark / (VR Monogram) / Lightning. Dot to centre of base. Household Jar Various Various. 1890s-1900s
1. Very Good. No bail or lid. Only a few flakes and chips around the ground lip with one more noticeable 9 x 5 mm chip coming down the front left. Dusty inside. Wear to outer lip. Open bubble to front shoulder, another near L of Federal. Light wear around the base edge. Has a few scuffs and scratches to the surface. Quite strong embossing for one of these. Nice pictorial jar. 2. Excellent. Original lid and bail. Usual flakes and nibbles around the ground lip with one 13 x 4 mm area of more noticeable chipping to the front left (hidden when the lid is in place). Dust and grime to the surface. A few scratches. Some wear to outer top. A little nick to rear outer top. Nice embossing and whittled glass. Good example of this Australian made (Vance Ross glassworks Sydney) jar. Grade: N/A Estimate: $50 - 70
