Very Good. Original stopper has a couple of spots of minor wear. Kiln kiss type mark to upper lip, there is a tiny glaze flake next to this, but would have been rom making. Scrape to outer lip from the handle on either side. Half way down the front right shoulder is an 8 x 2 mm oval shaped discoloured hairline, which has an 8 x 1 mm glaze flake along one edge. Below this mark a hairline extends about 23 mm. Above it it extends to the lower lip under the handle, roughly 80 mm. 24 x 8 mm shallow flake under base, probably from making. Some minor surface grime. Some minor glaze scratches from usage. Lovely making marks to be found, some iron spots and a crude spun type appearance from the potters wheel. One or two possible small glaze flakes to the body. The tap is the original tap, the two bolts either side to secure the tap are not original, they were put in place by the current owner many years ago with a simple sheet of black plastic where a brass plate would have originally been towards the end of the tap. There are several glaze misses on the shoulder from making. A small hairline near rear base comes up about 25 mm and under the base about 40 mm. A superb and very large item, we have never seen one of these on offer publicly before, a great rarity which is on eof the pinnacle's in demijohn collecting. Grade: 7.3 Estimate: $7500 - 12500
