W. Adams / General Storekeeper / Yarroweyah. No potters stamp. Demijohn Impressed Two tone, tan top with off white body. Impressed print. 1/2 Gallon. 242 mm. 1900s
Very Good. Sharp inner lip edge has glaze wear. Outer lip edge has extensive wear just over glaze depth. One patch extends down towards the right side, again this is just over glaze depth. Handle is really good with only some minor wear spots. 7 x 2 mm mark to front right body half way down. This is a lump in the pottery that has an associated glaze flake, this would be a pottery blowout. Tiny flake under base. Couple of small spots of discolouration. Some light scuffs and scratches to the glaze from usage. An exceptionally rare demijohn from country Victoria, Yarroweyah is a very small town and always has been with little evidence of any shops that would have had a demijohn! Until we saw this, we did not know of the existence of this piece! Grade: 7.3 Estimate: $750 - 1000
