H. W. Potts' / Cherry / Tooth Paste / For Preserving & Beautifying / The Teeth. Bottom of the base is printed: L & C / L. (Melbourne lid). Pot Lid Tooth Paste Rectangular shape. Black & White. 82 mm across. 1880s-1890s
Very Good. Beautiful lid with fine crazing through the surface. Top left corner has a chip on the flange (7 x 4 mm). Along from this on the flange edge is a nibbled area over 10 mm. Bottom left corner has an 8 mm line of nibbles. Tiny glaze flake to bottom of left flange. Some dullness in patches, including underneath where there are some crystal coming from the craze lines (this has been soaked in something to clean it, and will need a good soaking in water to remove any acids that remain in the lid). Just some other very minor marks. Base is original and was found with the lid, it has a couple of shallow chips inside the rim. A bit of crazing and minor marks otherwise. Grading is for lid only. Grade: 7.9 Estimate: $1500 - 2000
