Large cobalt lidded chemist storage jar. Polished pontil to base. Chemist Jar Fine lip, applied flared out rim. Another rim applied near the base, which itself is flared out. Polished pontil. Cobalt. 1/2 gallon. 192 mm without lid. 1860s
Near Mint. The lid with the pedestal type handle applied as is seems to suggest that this is quite an early piece, although we are unsure of the exact age. Just a few light scuffs and scratches to the lid. The jar itself is also superb. Some spots of grime externally. A little bit of usage wear under the base, particularly one small section where the base bulges out slightly. Absolutely stunning piece! Grade: 9.4 Estimate: $200 - 250
