NY on applied shoulder seal. No base mark. Spirits Gin Applied top. Tapered gin. Wood panelled mould. Green/amber. 20 oz. 245 mm. 1880s
Excellent. Small amount of dirt on inner neck. One corner half way down has a surface fracture over 7 mm. Similar marks to opposing corner, one is 7 mm over a shorter 3 mm one. Tiny nick to another edge half way down. A few surface scratches. Very unusual colour. This seal is attributed to P Melchers, apparently Melchers opened a new distillery in Schiedam in 1858 and as a tribute to the USA he named the distillery New York. This is a rare bottle. Grade: 8.3 Estimate: $200 - 300
