Very Good. Simply WOW! Regularly rated as the best Demijohn in Australia - and note this is the larger of two sizes! A couple of glaze flakes to the upper and inner lip. The back right lip has two very shallow chips - 8 x 6 mm and 11 x 4 mm. From these chips is a little fracture/hairline running over about 33 mm. Also from this area is a hairline down the width of the top and this hairline becomes an even finer glaze hairline that continues about 50 mm down the shoulder. There is also a fine 30 mm glaze line above the potters stamp in this same region. Where the handle has rubbed around the upper neck is a discoloured scuff mark going around the neck. The body has a bit of stain and discolouration and a few scuffs and surface marks. The spiggot hole has no damage, the little hole to the front of this has a small 7 x 2 mm chip from the upper left side of it. This Demijohn has spent almost all its life as a container in a farm shed and had a cork from a port bottle stuck firmly in the tap hole so that it would hold liquid, this has now been removed! Has the original metal carry handle. The surface marks and the like will clean up better if required but no matter this is a stunning item. These are rarely if ever offered for Public Sale making this is a wonderful opportunity! Grade: 7.7 Estimate: $15000 - 20000
