Geo Peacock / Jam / Manufacturer. No base mark. Household Jam Jar Applied lip. Aqua. Quart. 178 mm. 1880s
Very Good. Oiled internally, this jar is hazy throughout. A little patch of rust on the lip. The front lip has a dint in it, this is from manufacture with the inner mould marks also dipping at this point. Scratch along front left shoulder. Small section of pit marks to right rear body. Scuff mark between A and C towards shoulder. Some other scuffs and scratches to be found, there are a few spots of rust to the body as well. Usage wear under the base heel. Piece of unmelted slag within the glass on the left front. Unusually shaped jar with a tiered type arrangement to the neck and quite a sharp rounded shoulder. These come with a base mark from J. Ross, Camperdown, although this is unmarked, with the unique shape it is very likely to have been made by the same glassworks. Grade: 7.6 Estimate: $200 - 250
