Chinese ink bottle with Chinese characters. Household Ink Chocolate glaze pottery ink bottle with pouring spout. 132 mm. 1860s-1890s
Excellent. Although they are very difficult to see, this appears to have Chinese characters embossed all the way around the shoulder. There are definitely a couple of Chinese characters under the base. The right side lip has a small flake, 5 x 4 mm. Another 5 x 4 mm flake to rear lip. Tiny nibble to pouring spout. 7 x 4 mm flake to side base. 13 x 6 mm flake chip under front base. Several blow outs in the pottery, the largest is 4 x 3 mm to the left side, about 2 mm deep. Amongst the crude marks there are some rust stains as well. This Australian found piece is extremely crude and early, this is the only Chinese ink of this style that we have seen! Grade: 8.1 Estimate: $75 - 100
