Large cobalt Whirley Salad Oil. No base mark. Goldfields Salad Oil Applied top, flared lip, two rings around neck, swirled pattern down to hobnail diamonds on the lower shoulder region. 6 panels going down the body to a base ring. Complete with original clear glass stopper. Cobalt. 26 oz. 362 mm without stopper. 1860s
Excellent. There is a very shallow 7 x 2 mm flake to the upper lip with another small nick beside it. On the inner neck near this is a surface scratch type mark on the ground section (which is ground from manufacture, being a stoppered piece). One small and shallow base edge flake. Just a couple of light surface scuffs and scratches, this is a superb bottle which is very rare in this imposing size. Grade: 8.8 Estimate: $750 - 1000
