B & W / Flinders St. No potters mark. (Billin & Wight, Adelaide). Ginger Beer Cork Stoppered Dump shape, all honey amber, impressed. 13 oz. 163 mm. 1870s
Very Good. Shallow flake chip to upper lip, 14 x 4 mm. A few other glaze flakes and nibbles around the upper lip. The outer blob top has a rough texture which is probably from making. Light band of glaze wear around the sharp shoulder edge, there are a couple of glaze flakes in this area as well. Under the base at the front is a section of flake chips, about 35 x 10 mm at the greatest dimensions, this is very shallow. To the left under the base is a deeper chip, 20 x 13 mm. There is a small 5 x 3 mm flake between these two under base flakes, but on the side. Light wear and scuffs to the glaze, a few glaze flakes can be found to the body as well. This is an early South Australian bottle from Billin & Wight of Adelaide (Flinders Street). Grade: 7.1 Estimate: $20 - 30
