Small Mallet, possibly of English origin. Base Mark: Pontil. Wine Black Glass Wide flaring string rim close to lip. Deep Olive Green. Quart. 204 mm. 1700s
Excellent. There is a shallow chip under the string rim on this one, 10 x 4 mm in total size, this is a bit nibbly around the outer edge as well. Light scuffs and scratches around the shoulder and again around the base, pretty much usage wear. Wear under the base where it stands is a bit heavier, this bottle would have been used for a long time. Some small internal bubbles appear to have surfaced, these are shallow. A few spots of surface rust. This is a prime example of a bottle that far outdates European occupation of Australia, in this shiny condition they are seldom offered for sale. Grade: 8.65 Estimate: $300 - 400
