Cobalt banded flask, in shape of a flattened barrel. No base mark. Spirits Whisky Applied top, flattened oval shape flask, three bands around top, three bands around lower half, vertical barrel type panels, with a circle on one side for a label space. Cobalt. 4 oz. 158 mm. 1870s
Excellent. An internal lip mark that appears to be a burst bubble, this is 2 x 4 mm. The rear lip has an external small flake, only about 2 x 2 mm and very shallow. There is an airbubble on the front under the third band up from the base. This is on the right hand front side, and has burst in a part of the bubble measuring 5 x 5 mm, the bubble itself is somewhat larger. The burst part is right on the raised band, with some minor flaking where this has burst as well. There is some faint internal dirt. There are a few minor scuffs to the raised bands. This is a superb bottle the design of which was registered, with aqua examples sometimes found within Australia bearing the British Registration Diamond. Grade: 8.1 Estimate: $500 - 600
