The lid of this jar has: Potted / Meat in a very fancy design with a fancy green vine type border. Prattware Potted Meat Straight sided Potted Meat Pratt Jar with wide mouth with the correct fitting lid. ¬Ω pound. 98 mm without lid. 1860s-1870s
Excellent. Repaired. Superb looking item. There has some extremely well done restoration work to the jar and lid. The jar has what looks like some light discolouration above the dog scene that is in fact some over painting. It would appear that this is disguising a small chip to the lip area although the exact extent of the repair is uncertain. Where we have scraped some of the over painting we have only revealed original pot. On the rest of the pot there is some actual discolouration and crazing with some spider hairlines on the base/inner base. The lid has similar overpainting to the base but again scraping over this has only revealed original lid. It would appear that there have been some chips and nibbles around the rim that have been repaired. The repairs are definitely some of the best we have seen and with such a great looking item this is still a lovely piece. Grade: 8.15 Estimate: $250 - 300
