Trelawny / Stilton Cheese / Factory. No potters mark. Household Cheese Jar Straight sided cheese jar. Impressed. Yellow type glaze. 1 pound. 115 mm. 1890s
Excellent. The lower part of the impressed stamp is a bit weak with the S of Stilton and parts of the word Factory not really readable. There is heavy crazing throughout. Internally there is a hairline crack, 70 mm long, this is only internal and not at all visible from the outside. There is a small glaze flake to the front lip, another flake to the front base which is a tad bigger, this is 4 x 2 mm, but only just beyond glaze depth. This example is different to others we've seen, in that it has an unusual indented ring right around the internal lip. These pieces were made at the Rogers Pottery in Ipswich. Grade: 8.25 Estimate: $300 - 400
