Sparkling / (AAB Monogram) / A. A. Billson / Beechworth / and / Tallangatta / Dandelion Ale. Impressed stamp: Large stamp - Bendigo Pottery Co Ltd / Epsom / Bendigo. Ginger Beer Cork Stoppered Champagne shape, cork top. Tan top, white base, black print. 13 oz. 223 mm. 1890s-1897
Very Good. There are three little glaze nicks on the front lip and a manufacturing fault where the top has a fold in it. A small 3 x 3 mm chip off the bottom part of the top. A couple of scratches just through the glaze on the lip, these are short. To the right of the print are a couple of discoloured scratches, the most noticeable of which is 40 mm long. Some shorter, but deeper scratches to the left of the print. The print itself is very good for one of these and has an interesting glaze effect around it like the print was a bit overburnt during firing. A few other scratches and scuffs around the body. An extremely shallow flake under base, probably where the pottery stuck to the potters wheel. A few other similar, but smaller and slightly deeper marks under the base. Nice example of a scarce ginger beer. Particularly unusual with the large Bendigo Pottery stamp that doesn't appear on too many printed ginger beers. Grade: 7.55 Estimate: $150 - 200
