Dudley's / Tooth Paste / A fragrant antiseptic / prepared by / W.H. Dudley / Dentist. / Prahran Melbourne Pot Lid Tooth Paste Black print on white lid. Rectangle. 72 x 64 mm. 1890s
Excellent. Has some light discoloured crazing throughout. Crudely made piece with a few small lumps in the glaze, such as a small spot on the upper edge above the U of Dudley's. There are a few tiny nicks on the face edge, all less than a mm, pretty much can just be felt. Couple of tiny glaze flakes to bottom edge of flange, biggest is only 2 x 1 mm and a fraction of a mm deep. This is one of the best examples of this lid we have seen. This comes with a matching base, which has a shallow flake to the upper edge and a small flake to the bottom edge. Base is printed Maw, London. Another lid not to be missed. Grade: 8.6 Estimate: $1000 - 1250
