Schenck's // Seaweed // Tonic // - //. Plain, smooth base. Medicine Cure Square section. Heavy, crude applied double collar top. Blue-aqua. 26 oz. 236 mm. 1860s
Very Good. Bottle has been tumble cleaned leaving almost all of the character to the surface of the glass. The inner neck and shoulder is still dull and stained and the inner base and up one corner is the same. The top of the lip is quite rough but this is from manufacture. On the Tonic embossed side is a piece of dark green slag in the glass from making. A little fracture near the base on one corner is 3 x 2 mm in the surface of the glass. Also a little 3 mm long split in the glass surface higher on the edge of the Seaweed embossed side. Still some fisheyes and scratches evident, very hard to see amongst all the airbubbles and crude glass. Overall a nice early and unusual American cure bottle. Grade: 7.45 Estimate: $40 - 60
