W. E. Gibson / & Co / Taralgon (misspelling of Traralgon on the bottle) // (Bell) / Trade Mark. No makers mark. Aerated Water Torpedo Applied blob top. Blue-Aqua. 10 oz. 233 mm. 1880s
Repaired. This bottle has had a round hole in the base (measuring 12 x 10 mm) and has been filled with resin. This is actually fairly typical of these as a few examples were found with this same problem. The resin has discoloured slightly but also has some bugs and dust stuck on the surface of the inside. There is a burst surface bubble on the & of the writing side that is 12 x 6 mm in total. Also a little 3 x 1 mm open bubble above the Bell that is from manufacture. Inside has some stain still evident on one side. A few light scratches to be found. With the large number of bubbles, there are some others at the surface, but these only add to the crusity of this great piece. Still a great, crude torpedo with loads of bubbles and nice colour. Displays well. Grade: N/A Estimate: $150 - 250
