Phil Meagher / Trade (PM) Mark / Collie, W.A. No base mark. Beer Cork Stoppered Applied top, tooled ring seal. Emerald Green. 26 oz. 294 mm. 1890s
Excellent. There is an upper lip nick that appears to have been filled in with a form of resin, this is difficult to detect and only would have been a small flake in the first instance, about 5 x 2 mm and a fraction of a mm deep. The glass has a beautiful swirling effect to the surface. There are some light scuff marks to be found, the main one is on the right shoulder seam area and is very light. A few other light scratches can be found. There is a miniscule flake on the ring at the top, less than a mm in both dimensions and only a minute fraction of a mm deep, can only be seen upon extremely close inspection. There is some internal dirt to be found, this should clean out. The embossing is typically fine, but is crisp and clear. This is a very rare Western Australian piece which does not come up for sale often and is in a somewhat unique colour for Australian beer bottles. Grade: 8.5 Estimate: $1500 - 1750
