Summons & Co / Registered / Trade / Kangaroo / Mark / Sydney. No base mark. Aerated Water Maugham Thin Maugham type. Applied lip. Cobalt Blue. 6 oz. 195 mm. 1880s
Very Good. Polished. There has been some chipping to the back inner lip. This has been ground and polished over, given the crudeness of the lip this works in very well. Still evidence of a bruise to the back lip in this area as well a further bruise on the inside rear lip around to the right of this chipping. The inner front lip has a shallow flake and associated bruise as well. On the main body of the bottle the seam lines are no longer visible but the embossing has been well protected and still has good detail. There is typical surface pitting on and amongst the embossing however. There are some remnant fisheyes around the base area. There is an inclusion in the glass at the base in the form of a small star fracture. There are a couple of tiny surface fractures to the rear that have discoloured. There is a very light haze inside. Apart from the lip which is well disguised, the faults are all small and detract little from the beauty of this rare piece. This is a superb looking bottle and rare in this combination of maugham type and cobalt blue colour. Grade: 7.1 Estimate: $800 - 1200
