T Field / Potter / Sydney (Crude 3 lines in a curve type stamp) Ginger Beer Impressed Early Goldfields era stoneware ginger beer. Tan/brown glaze with grey spots throughout. 10 oz. 156 mm. 1850s
Excellent. There is a small surface blowhole on the side of the top and below this on the shoulder is a similar manufacturing mark (it is glazed over). Over this second mark is a very shallow 4 x 1 mm flake. There is some minor wear on the surface of the bottle and then 4 shallow flakes/chips to the back, side and underside of the base. These are all very minor, one on the back is 8 x 5 mm and less than 1 mm deep. On the side is a shallow scrape 9 x 2 mm. Also the back is a 4 x 2 mm base and under the base near here is a 13 x 3 mm flakes area that is less than 1 mm deep. There is some surface rust to the back left but this was coming off just with a quick wash so should soak off easily. This is a superb looking example with a beautiful strong stamp and some lovely well-defined fingerprints just above the stamp from whoever the actual potter was that made this. Grade: 8.4 Estimate: $80 - 120
