Embossed to base: P & S Rendorp / Amsterdam. Beer Corker Round section, three-piece mould, applied top. Black (Dark Olive-green) glass. Quart (actually holds 38 oz). 284 mm. 1860s-1870s
Excellent. Nice early bottle, quite a bit larger than a regular black bottle of the era. There is an internal airbubble which has surfaced, this cannot be seen unless held up to a trong light. Crude applied lip has a couple of rough spots but these appear to be from manufacture. There are some light scuffs and scratches to the body. The outer edge of the lettering shows some wear - this is where the bottle rests when standing up. Rendorp were brewers in Amsterdam, an unusual base embossed bottle of the goldfields era. Grade: 8.7 Estimate: $120 - 140
