Dixon's . Genuine / Aerated . Waters // Rosslyn . Street / Flagstaff . Hill (Melbourne). No makers marks Aerated Water Torpedo Goldfields era Torpedo round applied lip. Dark green-aqua. 10 oz. 223 mm. 1850s-1860s
Very Good. Has been tumbled, seams are still visible but very light. On the side lip there has been what looks to be a very shallow chip just ground out and polished over, it's pretty minor but just takes the edge of the lip out of shape. Where the top was applied there are some annealing marks which is common in bottles of this type and is from manufacture. Some lovely original whittling to the glass is still evident. There's some small pit marks scattered around and some slight internal dullness remains. Lovely early Melbourne goldfields era Torpedo. There are quite a few around with replaced tops but complete examples are quite rare. Nice deep colour. Grade: 8 Estimate: $900 - 1100
